NASA ' Finds ' Missing Moon Landing Tapes

I would really like your comments and thoughts on this post:

Its taken 40 years but the higher quality 1969 NASA Lunar landing tapes have apparently been found from the Parkes Observatory in Australia.

I find it very weird that the lunar landing HD tapes went 'missing' conveniently for 40 years and have only just surfaced... i mean we're talking about the landing of man on the moon here not some old family home movies...bit weird.. The timing couldn't have been better for NASA - its the 40th anniversary of the 1969 lunar landing and NASA hopes to take advantage of this this to drumm up hype for public support for massive expenditure on the new planned return 'manned mission' to the moon by 2015/2020.

Also NASA aims to use these tapes to put to finally put to rest the conspiracy theories about the moon landing being a fake - due to the poor quality footage of the original 1969 landing videos (see below video) . So we are going to have to wait until the end of July before NASA comes out with more on the 'new videos'.
(lets just hope NASA hasn't spent this time 'reviewing' the tapes by editing the video as usual - please be honest NASA we want to see it for ourselves!)

Article extract:
ECSTATIC space officials at NASA could be about to unveil one of their most stunning discoveries for 40 years — new and amazingly clear footage of the first moon landing.

The release of the new images next month could be one of the most talked about events of the summer.

The television images the world has been used to seeing of the historic moment when Neil Armstrong descended down a ladder onto the moon’s surface in 1969 is grainy, blurry and dark.

The following scenes, in which the astronauts move around the lunar lander, are so murky it is difficult to make out exactly what is going on, causing conspiracy theorists to claim the entire Apollo 11 mission was an elaborate fraud.

However, viewers have only ever seen such poor quality footage because the original analogue tapes containing the pictures beamed direct from the lunar surface were lost almost as soon as they were recorded.

Instead, a poor quality copy made from a 16mm camera pointing at a heavily compressed image on a black and white TV screen has been the only record of the event.

The Sunday Express can now reveal that the missing tapes containing the original high quality images have been found.

If the visual data can be retrieved, NASA is set to reveal them to the world as a key plank of celebrations to mark the 40th anniversary of the landings next month.

The tapes show in much more detail than almost anyone has previously seen the surface of the moon beneath the patriotic symbol of the US flag.

Crucially, they could once and for all dispel 40 years of wild conspiracy theories.

The low grade, dark and grainy television pictures that were beamed around the world on July 21, 1969, were intended to give Americans just a glimpse of their country’s greatest exploratory achievement.

Technology at the time meant Neil Armstrong’s film, recorded using a special lunar camera, went through a series of processes, each of which marked a step down in quality before it hit people’s living rooms.

From the moon, the signal was beamed to the Earth’s closest tracking station at the Parkes Observatory in Australia where, along with other important data, it was recorded on to high-grade magnetic tapes.

From there, the raw images were downsized to American television resolutions by a special scanner in Sydney, heavily compressed so they could be transmitted live, and then relayed to the US via the Intelsat III satellite.

The final loss in quality came when NASA made its US recording of the event—the one always seen in archive footage—by simply placing a 16mm film camera in front of a television monitor in the US.

However, it is the original magnetic tapes recorded back at the Parkes Observatory in Australia that contained the unadulterated and highest quality images.

To the later horror of researchers and scientists, it was those tapes that went 'missing'.

( I just love how sensitive information seems to go 'missing' all the time - the handlers of our top secret info must be damn clumsy folk!)

I find it very suspicious. I mean consider this. Why did they not release those tapes in the 70s or 60s after the news reported on it? Why wait till now when making a moon landing tape is so easy to fake with CGI? I have a hard time buying into this. The timing is just too much. And "Lost" I mean cmon how do you lose what was supposed to be the defining achievement in human history. Too many holes here to look at.

NASA is the biggest hype ever. please stop posting any s**it about them they are a the disgrace to the human race an the whole universe
please NASA spare us the ridicule and stop giving us update coz you sink deeper each time and no one is believing anything you say! aside of the dumbdown society, al the well inform know you are full of it. what are the next BS they gonna say please make it stop..

What I can not believe is there are still people that think it was a hoax. I'm all for a good conspiracy story, but get a clue! Anyone that knows the real story of the development of all things Apollo, knows that we went, and we went 7 times... but only made it 6. It was an incredible feat of engineering - it wasn't magic. Kennedy deserves a lot of the credit for mandating a moon shot.

of course the landing never took place, any self respecting scientific mind will come to that conclusion. Now, to publicly admit reaching such a conclusion is quite a different matter. Who would want to risk the vitriolic attack of the establishment that only cares about preserving itself. The truth is clear to any clear thinking and informed scientific mind.

why can you see through the astronauts as if double-exposure was taking place?

Sure they went to the moon 40 years ago, but the reason for the lost tapes and the odd looks in the astronauts faces when they stepped out of the capsule could be one and the same. They went there on a military recon. mission and weren't allowed to talk about what they really found.
Those tapes were for reconnaissance and were classified and poured over with a fine tooth comb.
They didn't loose anything.
They are making a composite that's been carefully edited to show the public in September at a Hollywood studio.
I don't believe the landing was faked...maybe some of the TV footage was. The YouTube video show Armstrong bouncing in the low gravity in the grainy footage. If this were faked, I wondered how they might pull it off on earth?
Remember those inflatable kids rides called the "moonwalk". I thought if they filmed Armstrong bouncing on an "inflatable" moon surface and then slowed down the footage it could be done. Then I looked carefully at the surface under his feet on every bounce. It looks like the surface gives...contracts and expands just like an inflatable moonwalk.
Judge for yourself.
