Solar Flares, Earthquake in New Zealand and Sun & Earth Interaction

As you may know a large earthquake hit Christchurch New Zealand today with a 7.0 magnitude at about 4.30am (2.30am AEST). Although there have been no fatalities so far, the earthquake has caused a state of emergency and caused substantial damage to the country.
I was advised recently that the increasing trend of Large (6.5+ richter scale) earthquakes may have a direct link with the increase in solar activity that we are seeing. 2009 -2010 saw one of the most active periods on record for large earthquakes and the frequency of seismic activity is still the increase. Correspondingly, on the 1st to the 2nd of September we saw a large solar flare in the southern region of the Sun (below video), NASA said the bulk of the CME passed earth on its way to Saturn but a small amount did hit Earth causing a geomagnentic storm .Taking into consideration the predictive theories of  astrotometry, the southern location of the CME and the 2-3 day delay for solar radiation to influence earth, there is a chance the recent New Zealand earthquake may be solar related.
Although these theories remain just that, if they do add to possible methods of accurate earthquake prediction then they require further study and investigation. Sciesmologists remain skeptical of this theory because it remains unproven and many of the Earth-sun interactions remain beyond the current understandings of  modern physics (see bottom video). However, an obvious trend deserves further study.
The major concern here is that if there is some link between solar and seismic activity on earth then we are to expect further and larger earthquakes as we prepare for the solar maximus of 2013.
You can read more about this theory and ongoing predictions at astrotometry.
Christchurch New Zealand EarthQuake report:

For the second day in a row, NASA's STEREO-A spacecraft has detected a strong solar flare on the far side of the sun. The flash of extreme UV radiation, which peaked at 21:55 UT on Sept. 1st. The blast also hurled a coronal mass ejection (CME) over the sun's southwestern limb.  Source
Although NASA said the cloud is heading in the general direction of Saturn and poses no threat to Earth a small amount of the CME did hit earth causing a magnetic storm . NASA also said...  Solar rotation will turn this active region back toward Earth for possible geoeffective action in about 7 to 9 days.
Strong CME's from the sun 1st - 2 September 2010:

The Earth sun connection - radiation from sun effects decay rates on Earth.

What is the source for this supposed theoretical link between solar activity and Earthquakes on earth???

It is thought, that the Tectonic Plates, between Australia & New Zealand, have been building up pressure for some Hundreds of years, and have suddenly; released!...a 7.4!??..& then it was downgraded to 7.1 on the Richter scale. What the trigger might have been, for that sudden release,..is anyone's controversial guess!?? But, has certainly left a mess in Christchurch NZ.

Theres a lot about links bewteen solar falres, gravity and the cycles of the solar system on GOOGLE (magnetic feild ect). I live in Christchurch where the quake hit and it was nasty. The sun is at its Peak soalr Flare stage in 2012 so dont expect things to get much better..

Peace.
