This is a news report from an australian paper. There are actually many ufo reports in the australian outback, not sure why, may have to do with the remoteness of the area.

AN ELDERLY couple claim they had a close encounter with a UFO while travelling along a Northern Territory highway in australia.

Lawrie Fuchs, 70, and his wife Gwen, 69, were returning to their home town of Elliott following a trip to Queensland last Friday when they say the UFO swooped them as they drove along the Barkly Highway.

Estimated to be about six metres wide, they say the object passed the vehicle with such speed that its slipstream forced their Mazda sedan into the middle of the road.

They were travelling in a westerly direction and were about 55km east of the Threeways roadhouse when the incident occurred.

"It was about 4pm when suddenly we saw a dark, silvery flash and heard a loud sound as it passed,'' Mr Fuchs said.

"It was travelling at a terrific speed, very bloody fast, and there was no warning at all.

"I'm sure it dive-bombed us but I can't imagine why.''

"I do a lot of bush work and over the years I've seen a number of strange, unexplained things,'' he said.

Mrs Fuchs said she saw a little flash just below the sun visor then heard a loud whoosh as it passed over.

"I actually thought it hit the car, but there were no marks,'' she said.

Mr Fuchs, a mechanic who has lived in Elliot for 40 years, says he took the incident in his stride.

"I don't talk about it much because sometimes people don't take you seriously.''

Last week, another man reported seeing a UFO near Tennant Creek. Alan Martin, who is deaf, was obviously shaken by his experience. The Aboriginal man in his 40s had bought alcohol and headed alone into scrub land to avoid being humbugged.

He described seeing a disc-shaped object at close range. His drawing indicated it had red, green and blue lights.

This is big news guys, when the lander collects and confirms these samples are ice - thus water, this will mean Mars is viable for human colonization

The Phoenix Mars Lander has photographed what scientists believe may be a smooth table of ice just under the spacecraft.

Scientists believe the lander's powerful thrusters likely blew away the surface soil and exposed the ice when the spacecraft landed on May 25. The finding is good news for the mission because it means ice may be close to the surface and easy to reach with the lander's robotic arm.

"This is really a gleeful day for us," said lead scientist Peter Smith of the University of Arizona. Smith had worried that ice could be as much as 30 to 40 centimeters beneath the surface and therefore more difficult to reach. But the recent photo leads scientists to believe ice could be as little as five to 10 centimeters below the surface.

Phoenix is designed to dig into the Martian polar region to analyze the history of water. The nearly 8-foot robotic arm will deliver samples of soil and ice to scientific instruments on board, which will examine them for signs of organic materials, the building blocks of life.

Islanders on Phu Quoc, close to the coast of Cambodia, heard a loud bang and saw shards of metal up to 5ft-long raining down on them on Tuesday morning.
Local armed forces and volunteers were mustered to help rescue any survivors, believing there had been a disaster. Officials estimated that the incident had happened around five miles up but airlines in Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand were contacted and all said they had not lost a plane

Sadly guys this Jeff Peckman Alien video is looking more like hype. As no actual video footage was released to the media in denver yesterday, people have taken advantage of this & numerous fake videos of the event are doing the rounds on the net.

ABC news has confirmed the stills pictured or meant to be legit however. Peckman described the 1 minute footage:
"It starts out with a digital camera looking out across the room toward a window. There's a couple of flashes of light. After a few seconds, there is a small head clearly rising above a sill, panning the room, blinking its eyes, all slowly." The skin of the alien's oblong face, he said, is smooth, not wrinkled like the being in the popular film "E.T."

Public will not see Jeff Peckman’s alien video today

If you were looking forward to seeing the alien video today that Jeff Peckman has been saying is “proof of extraterrestrials”, then you may be disappointed as Peckman will make the attending press sign a wavier at today’s event. This wavier will requie members of the press to shut of their cameras during the film and this will prevent the public from seeing the so called “proof of extraterrestrials”.

The Denver resident, Jeff Peckman had begun the process of “putting a ballot initiative to the city’s voters”, if Peckman gets his way and the vote is passed, we could see an 18 member extraterrestrial affairs commission formed that will have the job of ensuring the publics safety in the event aliens land in Mile High City.

Now while I believe we are not alone in the universe and their must be some kind of life out there, the idea that Peckman really has video proof of aliens will seem far fetched to many. In saying this, today is the day he has said he will prove to the world they do exist by showing a video of them.

Now if this is real, why not let the media record the event?

It can be clearly seen that the objects (#1 and #2) are NOT part of the lander's assemblage, and are indeed real.
Object/Anomaly #1:
Could possibly be a dirt devil, or a highly-reflective rock (possible asteroid/meteor), or something else.

Object/Anomaly #2:

Could be a highly-reflective rock. Is certainly not part of the lander assemblage, due to calculation of its bearings in relation to Phoenix's components on the surface of Mars.

A video that purportedly shows a living space alien will be shown to the news media Friday in Denver. "It shows an extraterrestrial's head popping up outside of a window at night, looking in the window, that's visible through an infrared camera," peckman said.

Jeff Peckman, who is pushing a ballot initiative to create an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission in Denver to prepare the city for close encounters of the alien kind, said the video is authentic and convinced him that aliens exist.

"You could see them blink as they looked in a window and panned a room," Peckman said as he met Thursday with city officials for a required review of his ballot proposal.

"As impressive as it is, it's still one tiny portion in the context of a vast amount of peripheral evidence," he said Wednesday. "It's really the final visual confirmation of what you already know to be true having seen all the other evidence."

When Peckman went before city officials this month to discuss his proposed ET initiative, he promised to show the video. Peckman said the general public will have to wait to see it because it's being included in a documentary by Stan Romanek.

"No one will be allowed to film the segment with the extraterrestrial because there is an agreement in place limiting that kind of exposure during negotiations for the documentary," he said.

But people won't have to wait too long to see it for themselves.

"There is an open, public meeting in about a month in Colorado Springs," Peckman said. "We'll hope to do one in Denver at some point, and then in a few months, there will be the documentary that anybody can have, and it'll have the footage."

David Broadwell, an assistant city attorney, asked Peckman if he was really serious.

Peckman needs to gather 4,000 signatures to get the proposal on the ballot. Even if he fails, Peckman said, the effort will educate people about the existence of aliens.

"I just did a radio interview with a South Africa talk show, and the discussion is all the same," he said. "People call in. They say, 'Yes, I've had this experience. We know the government has been hiding this information.' It's time to bring it out."

There have been so many UFO sightings over the waters of Lake Erie that it is now an official UFO hot spot. "It's a hot spot," declares local ufologist Aaron Clark about the beaches of Lake Erie near Cleveland, Ohio. "Some believe there's a UFO base on the bottom of the lake."

While not as well known as the ufo hot spots of Mexico City or Phoenix, Lake Erie has generated enough attention that news and documentary filmmakers are taking notice. Several Lake Erie UFO videos have made the national news, and The History Channel aired a segment on the Lake Erie UFOs.

There have been more than 20 credible UFO sightings in the area in the last two years, according to Clark, a spokesman for the Cleveland Ufology Project, one of the oldest UFO-spotting groups in the country.

"There's a pattern here," says Sam Phillips, a musician who filmed a UFO hovering over downtown Cleveland in March 2007, which was shown nationwide by CBS News. "There's a riddle here. And I want answers. I want an explanation."

The link between Ufo sightings over installations containing nuclear weapons and power plants has been well established over the past 50 years. In fact, its no surprise that after the first nuclear weapon was tested back in 1945 that 2 years later on we had the Roswell incident (in 1947) and a continual ufo presence ever since.
Over the last 30 years nuclear missile sites have been the location for many continual historic UFO sightings, such as at the Malstrom AFB in the USA and the Rendlesham forest base in the UK. On each occasion the nuclear missiles had been shutdown by strong magnetic-electric pulses when UFOs were observed above the missile silos.
Repeatedly the US government justified their reason not to investigate ufos because : "No UFo sighting has ever posed as a threat to national security" - but i mean seriously if deactivating a nuclear weapon isn't a threat to national security then what is?
This is likely the real reason why governments keep the ufo topics hush hush - they are actually a serious threat to national security as they have the ability to disable our most powerful weapons, at will, rending us defenseless - all while invading secure airspace undetected! However i am sure an evolved civilisation that has traveled millions of light years to visit earth has only our best interests as their concern, they probably just don't want us blowing up our planet!
