Video - Ufos are animation only to explain story
Residents of the city of Perm, in Russias Ural region, say that they could see a strange object in the sky. The object, eyewitnesses said, was hanging in the air above the city, scanned the area with a beam of light and even let off several passengers. The people did not specify what kind of passengers they were exactly and how they disembarked from what seemed to be a spaceship
A woman saw a strange object in the window at about 2-4 oclock a.m. She woke up her daughter and asked her to take a look at the strange sight. The two women could see a disk-like object sending three glittering beams of light on the ground.
Many city residents discussed the strange object on local forums.
Nikolai Subbotin, the director of RUFOS research station said the specialists of the station were investigating the information about the appearance of a UFO above Perm on January 9

China reports - similar objects to those over Newfoundland ?
With the mystery of that object over Newfoundland going unsolved many people in canada and the media are frustrated with the governments response to the sighting:
The reluctance of the RCMP to share what they uncovered during their investigation of the objects, combined with the continuing reassurances of the saftey of Canadians by the federal government has not put Newfoundlanders at ease over the sighting. Indeed, while many Canadians have had some fun with the story, others have left comments on news sites saying in effect that if the sighting had been anywhere else but Newfoundland, the government would be taking the matter very seriously. source
Some people are saying the objects may be similar to those like the one below often seen over shanghai China - what are your thoughts? ....
Chinese ufologists generally agree that they are just the result of plane exhaust fumes reflecting the sun in slightly changed atmospheric conditions. Another less likely possibility is a comet and of course military rockets (although this need not be the case) :

Site improvements
Hi there,
As so many people are now using iphones and netbooks to view the blog I made a few changes to speed up the site for these devices (please note it is the videos which do slow things down). Hopefully it should load a tad quicker! Let me know how the site loads for you....
Sadly i have had to remove the live chatroll (but you can still access it using the chat link above) and the Vertias radio player to speed the site up - not sure if this is good idea or not, would you all prefer the live chat?
Also i have added a new 'read comments' section on the right for you to read the most recent comments on the blog!
If anyone has further suggestions let me know,
Keep your eyes to the skies!

Video footage - that rocket going around canada - what is it?
Now we got video footage of the rocket Ufo over canada - what on earth is it?
Its deeply concerning the canadian government and military can't identify it - they say its not a missile but obviously it is. Is is from the french missile testing near by?
Theres something they are not telling us and i bet we are likely to get a flip flop story by the military in one week as these things usually turn out. When national security is a threat there is usually a denial and then 2 week delay before the truth comes out. Security is a major issue in Canada at the moment as well with the mobilization of an unprecedented 20,000 security guards for the Canadian winter games in 2 weeks.
So much for the ‘Lethal force’ during the winter Olympic Games airspace by Norad
Darlene Stewart saw the mysterious object zoom
missile-like overhead, trailing flames or heavy smoke.
"I knew it wasn't an airplane
. It was something different," Stewart said.
She took a picture of the object but it was clear from the picture what the thing was.
Another witness, Elly Pardy, told the CBC it appeared to be out over the middle of the bay.
"It appeared to come out of the ocean," she said. "It's kind of scary because you don't know if something is being set off out in the bay, (or) if someone is doing experiments."
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police sent an officer Tuesday to investigate the reports.

Newfoundland Ufo makes the news
Not ours, not the French and not amateurs says the Canadian Prime ministers office.

UFO's above Brush Mountain January 27,2010 PA
I am always supicious of these Ufos from pennsylvania but this one seem interesting.
Apparently filmed over Brush Mountain dam, up near the mountains. You can see 2 objects and i don't think airplanes or helicopters fly this close together?
Note the lady from pennsylvania who often films Ufos daily lives right near a helicopter base! thats why i always discount her videos but this one looks different:

No evidence UFO was rocket now in Newfoundland
Ok this story is starting to get really confusing. First the police investigated, then the military and now the prime minister. We have reports yesterday the french were testing missiles nearby - however news reports now reject this - so what was the object seen near Newfoundland Canada ?
I am desperate for comments from anyone in Newfoundland who may have witnessed the event or taken photos so please respond if you know any more about this.
France had just tested an M51 missile from a submarine based in the Atlantic Ocean near France had Burin Penninsula residents wondering if that is the source of the object captured by Stewart's camera. The Canadian government has said no missile tests were conducted Monday near Canada by any nation, including Canada.
Now the Prime Minister has been drawn in:
The canadian Prime Minister Office says there is no evidence of anyone firing a rocket near Newfoundland's southern coast, despite reports of a flaming unidentified object shooting through the sky in Harbour Mille on Monday.
"There is no indication that there was ever a rocket launch," Dimitri Soudas, a spokesman for Prime Minister Stephen Harper, said Thursday in an email.
But a Liberal MP is accusing Ottawa of failing to provide answers on the mysterious sighting, captured in a photograph by Harbour Mille resident Darlene Stewart.
Gerry Byrne, the MP for Humber-St. Barbe-Baie Verte, said Thursday he had received no further information on the missile-like objects seen earlier this week."The objective here should be to dispel rumours and conspiracy theories," he said from Corner Brook, N.L.
"It's not making any sense and nobody's providing any real answers, so questions are mounting."

Police say Ufo over Newfoundland now a Military issue
The mystery about that object seen over in Canada this week deepens with police saying its out of their hands and now a Military issue:
People who saw a missile-like object soaring through the sky over a small rural community in Newfoundland Monday night are getting no answers about what it was, although police say they'd gotten to the bottom of the mystery.
We confirmed that it was something," Sgt. Wayne Edgecombe told CBC News Wednesday. But Edgecombe said he couldn't reveal what the police investigation uncovered.
He said the focus of any police investigation is on whether something criminal has occurred.
"It's nothing criminal," he said, in relation to the unidentified object.
Edgecombe said he contacted the Department of National Defence and "they gave me some info," but he said that it is up to that department to release the information publicly.
Defence department officials were refusing comment.
The sighting has intrigued people in the Harbour Mille area, with some saying they were told by officers who were in the community Tuesday investigating the sightings, that the objects were test missiles launched from the nearby French islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon.Edgecombe said that rumour is completely false.
The suggestion that the object possibly involved the military has Liberal MP Gerry Byrne, who represents the Newfoundland riding of Humber-St. Barbe-Baie Verte, demanding answers.
"There's a credible body of evidence," Byrne told CBC News, "that suggests there's something spectacular happened off of our shore. Before this goes any farther, I think the government needs to actually respond very quickly with a straightforward, factual statement."

NASA's response - those Images near the sun were 'glitches'
Colin Andrews recently sent an email to the head of NASA's SOHO program (the program that captures those recent solar images). The response from NASA was that the objects we were seeing were essentially glitches. Although NASA would never admit to Ufos being a possibility, even with the volumes of anolomous footage out there, their response on this incident does seem to have some reasoning.
Would like your comments on this response:
NASA's response to Colin's email:
What you're seeing are compression artifacts, highly magnified. We have to compress the images digitally in order to keep a good rate of taking them and still be able to telemeter them back (across an increasing distance, which weakens the signal and limits how much data we can send per unit time) to earth. The images you are looking at in the video are "space weather beacon mode" images that are telemetered down nearly continuously:
In near-realtime, and are both binned (undersampled spatially, down to 512 x 512 pixels) and heavily, lossily compressed digitally onboard (analogous to the various JPEG compression settings on a digital camera, but much more severe).
Then they're made available on the Website in a variety of magnifications or "upresings"
which only magnify the artifacts. Usually, by now (that is, three days or more after the data were obtained), we'd have the full-resolution (2048 x 2048 pixel) images, which are much less heavily, but still lossily, compressed, and are played back to a Deep Space Network (DSN) ground station via the high-gain antenna on one of the STEREO spacecraft. Unfortunately, a piece of ground hardware at DSN failed, and we're only now catching up on the full-resolution data from January 18 onward --- except the lower-resolution (512 x 512) beacon mode data.
People first started seeing the odd images around that date, when there was a moderate olarenergetic particle event, but those up-resed images have now been replaced on the SSC Website with the full resolution ones. DSN has caught us up to January 20, the last time I checked.

Strange rocket object seen over Newfoundland Canada Jan 25 2010
Residents in Canada reported seeing this strange rocket or object on fire on Monday night.
Real Ufos would like to know if any fellow canadians saw the object in the area recently as well. Please comment if you did.
CBC News reports:
Residents in Harbour Mille, a tiny community on Newfoundland's south coast, want to know what they saw in the sky Monday night.
Darlene Stewart said she was outside taking pictures of the sunset when she saw something fly overhead.
She snapped a picture of the object in an attempt to zoom in on it to see what it was.
"Even with the camera, I couldn't make it out until I put it on the computer," she told CBC News. "I knew then it wasn't an airplane. It was something different."
Stewart's picture shows a blurry image of what appears to be some kind of missile-like object emitting either flames or heavy smoke.
