I think there were reports of strange shapes in the sky on a previous new year's day at around the same time, however I can't seem to remember exactly...

My guess is that they're flares of some sort -- were they drifting in the direction of the wind?

Also, 3 points of light will always outline a triangle shape, so that observation isn't substantial.

I saw the same in London at 3am, five orange coloured lights..

which were apparently seen earlier on in Streatham at 10.30pm London, England. They have put the photographs up. I too tried to photograph them but not as clear.

Hey Alexia i live in streatham near straetham common station and saw the same thing at 1am. I saw two that were quite far apart and then they just disappeared. My aunt and cousin also witnessed this. 2012 is acomin!!!

That certainly has nothing to do with New Years Fireworks. Whatever it/they were. And I think Flares hang about that long either. (I have seen flares) They Don't 'hover' about like that thing did.

Same here. Same lights in London. Just one, but was moving in a triangle. It went north, then south, then west, then disappeared. Then it appeared again.
