Can anyone out there shed any light on these objects in the sky tonight (12th September) at around 8.40pm. I was tidying some toys in the garden when I looked up and saw two orange balls. I ran back to get the camera and another 3 appeared. My dog didn't like the look of them either. We waited half an hour but no more showed. They moved slowly and vanished in a westerly direction. The night is crystal clear and still. Rate this posting:

Hi there
My friend and I saw exactly the same phenomena from my back garden at Meir Park, Stoke on Trent, at approximately 9.55pm on 12th September 2009. We observed the orange lights for about 5 minutes in total before they disappeared. There must be other people that saw these??

This one has the feel of your classic 'chinese lanterns'...
I am so pleased that someone else witnessed this. We live in Grantham Lincolnshire and were also in the garden at about 8.30pm on saturday 12th September 2009. We saw 2 very large bright orange lights fly over us, followed by another 3-4 mins later and about 10mins after that 4 more flew over together. All the lights looked like very large bright orange balls stayed in view for about 5 mins each before disappearing into the far distance and out of sight. It was a truly amazing but wierd experience and i have no idea what they were, possibly comets or asteroids, but i don't know. They were so big, no noise and lasted for such a long time in our view. If anyone else saw them or knows what they are, would be great to know. We tried to capture on phone cameras but too far away by time we watched and thought about it.
amazing we saw exactly the same in grantham lincolnshire
we saw the same at around 9pm in croydon surrey
We saw the exact same thing in Greenhithe, Kent at the same time. This was witnessed by us and our neighbours. As well later that evening we watched several other flying craft that were moving at extrodinary speed and in weird directins, all passing within feet of each other. These were UFOS
Glad that someone else saw this. I noticed the lights at about 9:40 in East London when they just seemed to hover in formation before disappearing after a few minutes. I saw four or five at first follwed by two more and then a further three. The first one seemed to rise and disappear shortly followed by the others. There was no noise so I can't see how they were aircraft...
I saw exactly the same thing as Vicky on the manthorpe estate in grantham. I photographed the still picture equivalent (around 8-00-8.30 pm) of the moving images in this post in maidstone. They also passed directly over our house. As much as they look like orbs when they are not directly overhead, what i saw was a floating flame, between 15-20 in total spread over the 3 waves. As strange as floating flames sounds, that is exactly what they were. It was very bizarre indeed and 3 neighbours were also as perplexed stood out on the street looking up.

wow am i glad i stumbled on this site!
around 8pm (x-factor was still on lol) i was looking out the back doors having a smoke and saw these orange lights.
I am in Beccles Suffolk approx 8 miles inland from Lowestoft and saw a constant orange light risin in the sky above Lowestoft,it then moved horizontally south roughly along the coast, it was closely followed by a second light as if it was chasing it, both totally silent and not moving as a heli/plane would.
i called the wife to witness it too, amazingly neither of us grabbed a phone/camera to film them we just stood in amazement watching
