EL CAJON (CBS 8) - Stacey Gibson can't tell you what she captured on home video, but she can tell you she's never seen anything like it before.
"We were just, wow, this is weird, this is strange. What's going on?" she said.
Just before 10 p.m. Sunday, Stacey's husband Todd was walking the dogs when two bright orange and white lights appeared to be moving in sync across the sky.
"I've seen planes, I've seen satellites, there's always tiny blinking lights, there wasn't anything like that with this. It was solid, one color the entire time," Todd said.
For five minutes, the mysterious lights shifted from north to south before they suddenly disappeared.
"I was trying to figure out, maybe it's a plane, maybe it's a satellite? But I was in awe, looking up at two orange objects in the sky I've never seen before,"
The FAA can't explain what the family saw, and so far only a neighbor has reported a similar sighting."
Mel Podell with the San Diego chapter of the Mutual UFO Network says dozens of UFO hoaxes have been documented in the El Cajon area over the years, but can't say with any certainty if these are alien or fake.
While the family knows their story sounds out of this world, they are convinced they witnessed a close encounter, and will be keeping a watchful eye on the night sky.
"I think we're definitely believers now," Stacey said."

We saw the same lights! We live in el cajon in the cedar block housesand It
was the most wierdest thing ever! This just happened last night!
Here in San Mateo, California:
Last Saturday, July 30, 2011 around 7 p.m., I was in my living room and through the front window (eastern side), I saw a light in the sky that was out of the area of the traffic of airplanes that travel from South to North to SFO.
I immediately went outside and saw a large ball of orange light in the sky in the east towards 101 Freeway direction. I was at a 40 degree angle. I was hoving there and wiggling. No stars were out yet since there was still light in the sky and it was around 7 p.m.
It was a bright orange ball of light bigger than planet Venus and bright like a flare. The neighbors began looking at it and I yelled for my brother to come. He started to walk outside like he didn't not care, but as soon as he looked up in the sky, his reaction changed to "OH SHIT!" OHHHH MY GOD!"
We were watching it as it was hovering in the same spot, wiggled up and down and I was saying, "It is not an airplane, it is not a star, it is not a meteor, it can't be a flare since flares slowly descend. Plus this object was bigger than a flare and much bigger than any star. It can't be a balloon sit it was not floating away in the wind. It was mostly stationary in the sky.
We were shocked! It was there for around 10 minutes then it began to like go up deeper into the sky and disappeared.
I then tried to look up to see if it came out in the news. In yahoo I looked up "Orange UFO" and found that there were quiet a lot of sightings of orange UFO's in California.
This was very strange!
My guess is that if it was a UFO it was watching the traffic of Commercial Airlines that fly from South to North as they approach the San Francisco Aiport. The UFO was right in that path.
We saw the same thing last night right around 11:00 p.m. Aug 7, 2011. There were three and they were hovering above the Interstate 8, we managed to pull over to get a better look at them and then one by one they flickered off, and all were gone by 11:11. Not sure what they were but they were cool!
