Physicists voice Dangers of CERN LHC - are Ufos now monitoring it?

Hey guys,
Someone reported in the forum recently that they have seen ufos over the CERN LHC in geneva. The sightings seem to tie in with the legitimate concerns from physicists all over the world that the LHC really has potential to create a black hole (see video report below). Maybe the Ufos are monitoring the LHC - like they reportedly have done with nuclear silos, to ensure we don't stuff the world up ?

Sighting report:
I Have been staying in Thoiry, France for the past three months, and this morning at about 5:00am, i had my third UFO sighting since i've been here. The little village of thoiry is about 7 minutes drive from the headquarters of CERN which straddle the Swiss/French border, and being that there is very little around this area (apart from CERN) that may be of to interest to someone(or something) thats watching, i wonder if CERN is being surveyed.. especially since they're getting ready to launch the controversial LHC experiment, the product of which remains very unsure...

I have some questions.
Why have these fear mongers waited sooo long before voicing concerns with the LHC?
If they manage to stop the LHC from starting up are they going to pay back the billions spent on building it?
Why are the concerns coming from america and nowhere else?
I smell jealousy, if this was built at fermi labs I doubt very much that we would be getting any of this fear hype, in fact they would be getting a round of applause from this side of the pond....

Good god it is not about anything other than genuine concern for the future. If the LHC can be reasonably confirmed to be safe, I will be the first to congradutate.

But there is still very reasonable cause to believe that planetary destruction has not been ruled out by more than conjecture that still requires reasonable verification as CERN's own Scientific Policy Committee says of the neutron star and cosmic ray arguments that did not even account for the extremely strong magnetic fields protecting neutron stars from charged particles nor our lack of concrete knowledge of the properties neutrinos with respect to those same neutron stars and white dwarfs.

To possibly create micro black holes that might be capable of destroying the planet based on one report not verified by scientists not selected by the same company (CERN) that will conduct the experiments is not reasonable. These are completely new safety arguments that are not confirmed. Slow down. The science can wait a short period to assure safety.

In order for Earth to be in danger based on current assumptions, the following would need to be true:

- Micro black holes would need to be creatable at collider energies. -- This is unknown, but reasonably plausible according to the CERN Courier and CERNs public safety web site.

- Micro black holes would need to be stable and not decay. -- This is unknown, most physicists predict decay, though several PHDs of Math and Physics argue that decay is an open question.

- Micro black holes would need to grow quickly. -- This is also unknown, Dr. Otto Rossler theorizes that a micro black hole could become charged by capturing electrons "in orbit" outside its event horizon. 2008 LSAG Safety Report also accepts that if micro black holes were charged they would likely grow quickly.

The probability of danger is unknown, the legal action currently before US Federal Courts estimates high risk.

"The LHC is only going to reproduce what nature does every second, what it has been doing for billions of years,"

Cosmic ray impacts do not prove safety because results of cosmic rays pass through Earth and into space at nearly the speed of light. If colliders create micro black holes from head-on collisions, some percentage will travel too slowly to escape Earth's gravity.

"even if they [micro black holes] appeared, he said, they would instantly evaporate, as predicted by the British physicist Stephen Hawking."

Several published papers conclude that radiation by black holes is an open question. Professor V.A. Belinski argues in his published work that Hawking Radiation does not exist.

Every argument has two sides and both sides don't always get equal press.

I HAVE READ THE WRITINGS OF HIGHLY EDUCATED PHYSICISTS THAT SUGGEST THAT THIS CERN COLLIDER HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CREATE A '' STABLE BLACK HOLE'' THAT WILL SETTLE IN THE CENTER OF THE EARTH ,THEN THIS BLACK HOLE WILL DESTROY EARTH, AND THEN OUR SOLAR SYSTEM. WHERE IS ALBERT EINSTEIN WHEN YOU NEED HIM? HAS MANKIND ACTUALLY FIGURED OUT HOW TO DESTROY THE WORLD? AND FOR THE SAKE OF SCIENTIFIC CURIOUSITY ARE WE READY TO PLAY RUSSIAN ROULETTE WITH THE VERY EXISTENCE OF OUR WORLD? MANKIND INVENTED THE ATOMIC BOMB, SO HAS MANKIND NOW BUILT A MACHINE THAT CAN CREATE A STABLE BLACK HOLE? WHAT FRIGHTENS ME IS THAT I BELIEVE THAT IT IS POSSIBLE THAT AT ''CERN'' MANKIND HAS POTENTIALLY STUMBLED INTO A REALM OF ENERGIES THAT ARE INFINITE IN NATURE, AND IF THESE INFINITE ENERGIES ARE UNLEASED EARTH WILL SUFFER INFINITE CONSEQUENCES.IN OTHER WORDS THE WORLD MIGHT BE SUCKED INTO A BLACK HOLE AND COME OUT THE OTHER SIDE THE SIZE OF A CLOVE OF GARLIC.

Anyone who talks about the LHC "destroying the solar system" is obviously uneducated and their words are best ignored and here is the reason for that:

If a micro-black hole was created, stable, and did sink to the center of the Earth where it grew and eventually sucked up the whole planet, the mass of the black hole would be EQUAL to Earth. It would therefore stay in Earth's orbit and exhibit the same gravitation effects on the rest of the solar system that Earth currently does! It would not move off course and begin devouring other solar system objects. The Moon would probably still stay in it's same happy orbit too since the center of Earth's mass will be in the same place and the mass will be the same.

Failing to realize that and talking of the destruction of our solar system indicates that your knowledge of physics isn't sufficient to warrant anyone listening to your concerns.

Wouldn't the fate of space shuttle Colombia provide a sufficient example as to the posing concerns of project CERN? I mean think about it, if one man who knew about a fatal fault endangering the shuttles who couldn't even convince those idiots running Nasa to "SIMPLY" postpone the Launch to investigate a proper examination which would have shown their fatal problems so why should CERN be any different here? They too are prone to problematic problems but the difference is they are ordered by GREEDY-CARELESS POWER-HUNGRY IDIOTIC SCIENTIFIC MORONS? The difference is COLOMBIA had 7 people - PLANET EARTH HAS 7 BILLION + ALL LIFE! That's quite a gamble!

i have heard about this before, but i think it s stupid, the energy in LHC is ridiculous if we compare it to what happen at cosmic scale,

a accident could happen, but nothing so serious..
We have observed many collision beetween galaxy, and afaik none produced blackhole !!

for ex to change the earth into a blackhole, it would require to compress it in a sphere of a few mm3... or the sun into a sphere of 3km.. blackhole comes from Gravitational collapse..

Where the blackhole whould find the enormous amount of energy required in the LHC?

Aliens may be interested in this huge scientific facility, without invoking this tale of black hole, which has no 'chance' to ever happen from the collision of a few particles in the near vaccum of the collisioner.
