Click here to read it in englishThe French claim all people will now have access to over 10,000 documents concerning UFOs, accompanied by photographs, videos and police reports.

Sam Maranto, director of the Illinois chapter of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), said he was pleased with the turn of events, saying the UFO phenomenon has been a very obvious subject that has been obviously ignored.

"Now, it's getting to the point where it cannot be ignored," he said.

MUFON is a national and international organization "dedicated to the scientific study of UFOs for the benefit of humanity."

MUFON state section director for the Peoria region, Paul Russell, was still skeptical of the UFO documents France was releasing.

"My concern is that they might not be releasing all that they have," Russell commented.

Quoting novelist Whitley Strieber, Maranto said the subject of UFOs is "the stampede of elephants in the living room."

"It touches upon every aspect of the human condition," he said.

"Touching upon anything from biology to anthropology."

He said with the reluctance of the United States to reveal their own documents, others like France will soon embarrass us.

"When do we have the venue or forum to bring this to the forefront," Maranto asked.

"There is more than enough evidence to prove this is a reality...I really don't know how the charade can go on for much longer. "

Only 9 percent of France's 1,600 UFO cases since 1954 have ever been solved.

The United States considers their collected UFO records a matter of national security, and they can only be requested on a case-by-case basis under the Freedom of Information Act.
