Lieutenant Walter Haut was the public relations officer at the base in 1947 and was the man who issued the original and subsequent press releases after the crash on the orders of the base commander, Colonel William Blanchard. I'm willing to bet the real difficultly in revealing the truth about alien visitors is that it will reveal much more than their existence.
There could be any number of mind blowing truths that follow extraterrestrial disclosure.
Revealing ET is more than just revealing ET. Our reality would not come to include ET. ET's reality would become ours.
