Tonight, August 12, and tomorrow evening, August 13, will be the peak of the Perseids which will appear as steaks of light in the Northeast. However, the Perseids will have to compete with another celestial object this year. A full moon may dampen the numbers to somewhere around 12-20 meteor steaks per hour. Source
