Its really important to have a balance view considering the points against and for the prophetic and scientific predictions for 2012. I also think there is wisdom in the ages and if we disregard prophetic information we may become arrogant. Would like to know your opinions people on this especially after watching these below 2 different documentaries:
This video gives the argument against many 2012 myths:

I think the arguments against 2012 having any particular astronomical significance are sound, but I don't buy the guy's personal agenda. There may well be natural and economical catastrophe ahead; still, Jesus will not return either. Civilization will likely suffer a severe setback due to our mismanagement of the Earth, and we'll just have to make do as best we can. The worst risk is a nuclear war in the next couple of years.
So, it's settled. If something monumental doesn't happen in 2012, end of the world (whatever that means) theorists are to FUCK OFF for a good LONG time. And by long, I mean FUCK OFF.
lol
I agree with the first Anonymous poster. The guy with the arguments against the Mayan derived versions of 2012 kinda chokes up his entire video with bringing in the Bible at the end.
But really, if we set aside all predictions and prophecies - looking back at the last century of human activity, a disaster such as a nuclear war had more chance of happening during the cold war than it has today.
id just like to say, its feb 2009 and i can tell you now WE ARE heading into the galactic plane according to nasa!! this was only published 1 week ago, stating we are heading into the plane and should hit by 2012, they also said there is huge cosmic rays emmitting aswell, the result of this is calming the sun(good indicator of bad storm comming), heres a link from offical site:
http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2006/10mar_stormwarning.htm
that first vid is annoying because he makes it fact that hes right when he knows jack!
I have to speak my mind on this one. To start with, Mayans had little knowledge of most the natural catastrophic forces that could "destroy" the earth. For example, the volcano in yellow stone (which some think will blow on the 21st for some reason), Sun flares causing earth quakes, and in turn massive tsunamis... THEY NEVER KNEW ABOUT SUN FLARES. Also, the Mayans that still live their lives by the old calendar think nothing of dec 21, 2012 because to them the calendar never ends, it just loops back to the beginning which means a day of enlightenment, or a new beginning. Another thing that really "grinds my gears" is why every seems to believe that the magnetic forces are suddenly going to shift... gimme a fucking break. It takes about what 10,000 years for that to happen, and we're prolly only 9% into the change.
Either everyone is going to freak out for nothing, or the aliens are going to pay us a visit as they did 2000+ years ago.
a good article on this too check it out http://www.falsezeitgeist.com/
OK, first of all it has been proven that even a complete polar shift wouldn't result in anything immediate. Second The stupid Myans were too dense to prevent their own destruction when it arrived at their shores so I don't know how accurate their info really was. Third their calender doesn't end it just resets just like after an analog clock strikes 12. Fourth, the Bible DOES NOT say anything about 2012, it says that nobody but God knows when the world will end and obviously Jesus isn't back yet so all this proves that the whole 2012 thing is fake. If anything happens society will break down from peole going nuts with misplaced fear. So everybody just calm down.

personally I don't believe 2012 will be the end of the world but something incredile will happen. For example an alien race visting earth then leaving, as they did 2000 years ago. Or us humans will learn new technology and more advancements. No one really no's anything about 2012. For all we no it could be a tall tale.
